Our Story

“Dianne and I would like to welcome you to get away from your normal routine and unwind for a few days here on by Betty Creek. Four beautiful cabins sit high on the bank of the creek. As soon as you pull into your parking ... you will hear that soothing sound of rushing water. Take in the clean mountain air and clear your mind. You'll love the relaxing atmosphere, whether you're having breakfast on the back porch by the creek or rocking in one of our oak rockers while taking in the beauty of this area. No traffic, just quite atmosphere and clean air of the mountains and the soothing sound of rushing water.”

Turnstone Cabins started with a desire to get away from it all and escape to the mountains. In 1994, Ben and Dianne Parrish purchased a small piece of property along Betty Creek to build their own personal mountain cabin.

After a few years of enjoying being in the mountains, the opportunity arose to purchase another piece of property at the end of Big Creek Rd. With vision, creativity and hard work, Ben and Dianne personally built 4 hemlock log cabins for their family to enjoy. As time passed, the decision to rent the cabins to guests was made, and Turnstone Cabins was born. The name Turnstone was picked because everywhere they turned while building, there was a stone! What started as a small hobby for Ben and Dianne quickly became a full time cabin rental business. For the past 20 years, each booking has been handled by both Ben and Dianne from start to finish, including cleaning!

While hidden from most of Turnstone’s visitors and friends, Ben was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in 2019 and fought against it for almost 18 months. Unfortunately, in the summer of 2020, Ben lost his battle. After much thought and consideration, Dianne made the decision to continue operating Turnstone Cabins, along with the help from family and friends. While losing our patriarch has been difficult, we are learning how to carry on, while honoring his love for this business.

In order to make running a business easier for the Parrish family, we have made some changes, such as using VRBO for all of our bookings. We are so excited to now have a streamlined booking system in place for our guests! While there have been changes, the hospitality, pride, and compassion for our guests has remained the same. We truly look forward to welcoming both old and new friends to our piece of mountain paradise. Isn’t it time to get away to the mountains? We think it is!
